Upgrades are planned this fall and next spring to improve DuPont Road to accommodate an estimated 100 trucks daily that will serve Mountaintop Beverage at Morgantown Industrial Park.
“Working together with Commissioner Sean Sikora and the Monongalia County Commission along with WVDOH District 4 office, I’m happy to announce a commitment has been made to improve the DuPont Road from the intersection Fairmont Road to River Road,” said Joe Statler in describing the project.
Construction planned for fall 2022 anticipates widening the roadway by two feet on each side, with a final coat of asphalt being applied in the spring of 2023.
According to Statler this road project serves as a critical stop gap until the proposed I-79 interstate interchange at Harmony Grove can be completed.
“The lifespan of these improvements, estimated at 8-10 years, ensures there’s enough time to complete the proposed new Harmony Grove interchange, which will help minimize commercial traffic and improve quality of life in Westover. Additionally, it opens up the area to the west of the interstate to greater future opportunity,” Statler noted.
